April Smith and The Great Picture Show

I don’t always like the music that my sisters suggest I listen to. This, however, is one band that I enjoyed the first time I heard them, hence why I would like to share them with you! You can find the other artists and bands I’ve written about here, including the likes of Passenger, Jack Savoretti and many others.

April Smith and The Great Picture Show

An American band, originally hailing from New York and fronted by April Smith (name is a give away), this band will have you hooked from the first listen. With wonderfully diverse, jaunty and upbeat songs with hints of pop, indie, jazz, folk and swing, it’s so cheery and catchy you can’t help but enjoy it. They are relatively simple songs, usually telling a story of with a strong theme which make them easy to listen to, to enjoy and everyone can relate. With just one album to their name thus far, I’ve picked my three favourite songs for you to enjoy!

Songs For A Sinking Ship (2010)

My favourite track on the album. Listen for yourself to see why! The lyrics are pretty self explanatory.

Stop Wondering

A fun little song which, anyone who has experienced a break up or falling out, will be able to connect with. All about moving on, being able to stop thinking about that person and telling them proudly and happily, that you no longer care about them or the situation!

Can’t Say No

A song about not being able to say no to the person you like, whether you should or not. We all have/had someone like this in our lives!
