Facebook Spams Your Feed By Ignoring Subscriptions

As I was browsing through my Facebook this evening, I noticed that I had a notification in my news feed that a connection had been playing games. I though it a little odd, I had already ticked the un-subscribe button for “Games” news for that person. I clicked on the profile to check, I had indeed unchecked the Games option, yet here it was in my feed.

Games Spam

Slightly miffed about the override in my feed,  it is after all, nothing but spam when you have asked for it to be removed from your feed, I clicked on “Hide News” and removed the two games in question from popping back up. Refreshed my page. It was still there… I waited a while, sometimes these things need a minute just to clear. Refreshed again. Still there. Not only does it appear that Facebook can ignore your requests to hide stories, it then wont let you delete them from your feed. This is nothing more than spam and poor performance on behave of Facebook. Why give you the ability to tailor your feed as you wish but then ignore it, say you can hide it but then refuse to remove it?

Facebook Is Getting Worse

Facebook haven’t been doing much to inspire confidence from its users lately. They have  introduced questionable new privacy settings which allow people to pay $1 to bypass your message settings and send you a Private Message, whether you want them to or not. They share your details, content and location with people you may not know or think can see your details and now they are spamming your feed by ignoring your options to filter sections. They may be the worlds largest social network currently, but of they continue to ignore user wishes, only care about making money and spam people, they wont retain that honour for very long.
